Precession and the Flows of Consciousness

In my first article on Earth’s axial tilt I covered some of the ideas on solar system formation, from interacting galaxies through electrical universe Proto-Saturn theories and how they may relate to our current position and orientation in space.

Earth’s rotational tilt from its orbital plane, also known as axial tilt or obliquity is not fixed, but changes slightly over time. While the tilt angle is commonly noted at 23.5°, more precisely this angle oscillates between 22.1° and 24.5° over a cycle of about 41,000 years. The current tilt is 23.44°, roughly halfway between its extreme values. The precise value, as of May 20, 2023 at noon, is about 23.43624° or 23°26’10.4".

Some interesting relationships people have noted in their feedback on this:

The relation of obliquity to the angle of 90 degrees because 90-23.4 or 90-23.44 is 66.6 or 66.66 respectively. Whatever people's interpretations of "666" are, most are aware of the prophetic significance of this number, some considering it a critically signal warning for our current age.
Someone noted resonance between the 23.4 tilt angle and the 23.4 cents Pythagorean Comma.

These number relations appear more related to numerology. Yet, considering that the angle is shifting and these figures are derived from our current status in space and time, we are certainly at a transition phase on all levels, from physical to spiritual, and perhaps these current numbers are reflecting something in our planetary collective consciousness.

This reminded me of H.P. Lovecraft's story Dreams in the Witch House, where, long story short, the main idea of the story is that the geometry of space, when applied in a subtle but intentional manner to the geometry of a house, can enable travel from one plane or dimension to another, and that some of these dimensions are inhabited by ancient and evil entities that can influence human affairs.

Well, that certainly makes some sense looking at our current world situation. We are in a cosmic flow of ages, and appear at some culmination phase.

Metaphysical Ages

According to Rudolf Steiner's cosmological teachings, the evolution of Earth and our soul paths involves a series of planetary embodiments:

Old Saturn period — Earth existed as a primordial, spiritual state characterized as an etheric realm, devoid of material substance. Spiritual hierarchies were active in shaping the spiritual forces that would eventually lead to the formation of physical matter as foundation for incarnated spiritual evolution.
Old Sun period — A transformation from the primordial spiritual state to a more differentiated and individualized existence. Steiner described the Old Sun phase as a time of increasing densification and the emergence of warmth and light forces. The Sun is believed to have become a separate celestial body during this stage.
Old Moon period — A further stage of densification and differentiation. Steiner described this phase as the development of a watery or fluid-like state on Earth, characterized by a more pronounced polarity between light and darkness. Our present moon appeared during this phase.
Earth period — Our present phase, characterized by solid matter, physicality, and the presence of living beings, including humans and their spiritual development, the relationship between humans and nature, and the potential for conscious evolution.

Whether or not these phases have direct bearing on the actual formation of Earth and the arrangement of the solar system, or they are metaphysical considerations on soul development, or even if there is a logic that fits it all in to our manifestation, it is quite interesting that there is an Old Saturn period, superseded by the Old Sun period, which is concomitant with the ideas from the electric universe thesis described in my previous article on the subject.

I’ve been imagining along these lines for many years, just some mental wanderings seeking archetypal patters:

Old Saturn period - No seasons — Garden of Eden? Paleozoic?
Old Sun period- Sun appears — Mesozoic, development of angiosperms?
Old Moon period - Moon appears — Tertiary Era, age of mammals?
Present Earth period - Development of Homo Sapiens Sapiens and individuated spiritual evolution.

Precession of the Equinoxes

In the standard model, Earth’s ~23.5° tilt is considered gyroscopic, with the attendant precession of the Sun through the ecliptic constellations, aka the Zodiac. That is the Sun rises in different constellations on the same day over the years, marked at the Equinoxes & Solstices

This is called the Precession of the Equinoxes, where the Equinoxes and Solstices appear in different zodiacal constellations over great periods of time, approximately 2,160 years per sign, making an approximate 26,000 year precessional cycle. The current rate of precession calculates out to 25,772 years, or 20 arcseconds per year. However, this rate is non-linear, and currently slowing, so the true rate is non-calculable from the current objective readings.

There is no evidence that any planets actually wobble. Earth’s precession cannot be gyroscopic precession, as such, proven by experiment, requires fixing the lower pole, and involving the downward force of gravity. Neither of which is in space, where spinning gyroscopic experiments show incredible stability, no precession, and will stay at any angle set.

If precession was involving the gravitational tug of the Sun and Moon the seasons would be slowly shifting over the years, which hasn’t happened in all of known history. Archeoastronomic sites like Stonehenge and New Grange, as well as countless others around the globe, would no longer be fixed on the Solstitial and Equinoctial rising points on the horizon.

What changes is the backdrop of stars, so the Sun’s position along the ecliptic is what demarks the precessional cycle.

Hamlet’s Mill

Hamlet's Mill is a legendary Norse myth that tells the story of a magical mill that grinds out different materials before breaking down and producing a maelstrom of rubble. As the Earth’s axial precession moves us through the different constellations of the zodiac, it has a profound influence on human consciousness and the course of history.

Hamlet’s Mill is a metaphor for the cosmic machinery that drives this cycle of history and consciousness. The different metals that it grinds out symbolize the different ages or epochs of human history, each with its own unique characteristics and challenges.

Firstly, the mill grinds out gold and precious jewels, bringing peace and happiness. People are content and harmonious, life is prosperous.
Secondly, the mill grinds out a darker metal, silver. The world becomes materialistic and selfish. People begin to accumulate wealth and become competitive with each other.
Thirdly, the mill grinds out an even darker metal, bronze. Violence and war break out as people struggle for power and resources. The world becomes chaotic and unstable.
Fourthly, the mill breaks down, falls into the sea, producing a maelstrom of rubble, symbolizing the end of the great epoch cycle. The world is plunged into darkness and chaos, and the cycle begins anew. We’re here now — in case you hadn’t noticed yet!

The Great Ages

These ages are found in the East, in the Vedic Yugas, and in the West as the ages of the metals:

Golden Age / Satya Yuga — a period of harmony, spiritual enlightenment, and a close connection with the divine. It is characterized by a deep understanding of cosmic principles and the unity of all things.
Silver Age / Treta Yuga — marked by a decline in spiritual consciousness and a gradual separation from the divine. Knowledge is still preserved, but it begins to diminish, and human virtues wane.
Bronze Age / Dwapara Yuga — a further descent into materialism and a greater separation from higher spiritual realms. Characterized by increased conflict, the rise of ego-driven pursuits, and a gradual loss of spiritual insight and wisdom.
Iron Age / Kali Yuga — our current epoch, an age of spiritual darkness, moral decline, and disconnection from higher realms. Abject materialism, ignorance, and suffering dominate, and spiritual knowledge is scarce.

Based on the work of Sri Yukteswar, in The Holy Science, some say we left the Kali Yuga hundreds of years ago and are now in the Dwapara, which started in 1699AD. Yukteswar’s book is great for connecting the Yugas to the precessional cycle, but I disagree with his transition dating. His view is based on the developments of electricity, nuclear power, etc., as though this is some advanced stage impossible in the Kali Yuga.

In perspective, the transverse electro-magnetism we use is primitive, which could have been superseded over 100 years ago by Tesla’s non-EM worldwide wireless system. Tesla himself said that he refused to allow the unscrupulous conspirators the right of having thwarted his inventions, rather he said that right was afforded Nature herself, as the time was not ready for humans to utilize such properly.

Also, the governments and large institutions of the world are thoroughly corrupt, which those with eyes to see painfully observe. It is still the age of deceit and wickedness. There are manifold other examples.

The end of the Kali Yuga has been proposed in an article analyzing the various perspectives, The end of the Kali Yuga in 2025: Unraveling the mysteries of the Yuga Cycle by Bibhu Dev Misra. This conforms to the Galactic Alignment, Era-2012 thesis propounded by the late John Major Jenkins.

Galactic Alignment

John Major Jenkins, in Galactic Alignment - The Transformation of Consciousness According to Mayan, Egyptian and Vedic Traditions discusses the amazing relationship between our precessional cycle ~26,000 years, and our distance from the galactic center ~26,000 light years. In discussing related ideas, including Paul LaViolette’s Galactic Superwave theory, where the cyclic 26,000 year, where Earth’s precessional cycle has become keyed to these cyclic bursts, Jenkins writes:

While I was browsing through an equation-riddled tome called Subatomic Wave-Particle Electrodynamics, a section called “Gyromagnetic Proton Precession and Field Strength” caught my attention. Proton precession? The section described a little-known electrodynamic principle that operates on protons. Within a larger, encompassing electromagnetic field, a proton exhibits a precessional wobble, very much like the earth’s wobble on its axis. I read that the speed of the proton’s wobble is directly related to the strength of the encompassing field, as well as the proton’s distance from the source of the field! Here was a principle identified in nuclear particle physics that described precession on the microcosmic level. In fact, there was nothing I could see that would prohibit this principle from applying to the relationship between the earth (as the “proton”) and the Galactic Center (as the source of the field).What intrigued me most was the way it provided a connection between the precession rate of the proton (or the earth) and the distance from the source of the encompassing field (the Galactic Center). Could this explain the fact that the distance in light-years between the earth and the Galactic Center is equivalent to the rate of precession? Precession would therefore appear to be keyed— directly and immediately, not through the agency of superwaves—to the electromagnetic field-generating dynamics of the Galactic Center.

The estimated distance from our solar system to the galactic center, a powerful plasma (because black holes don't exist) called Sagittarius A*, is approximately 26,000 to 28,000 light-years. So while the relationship between our precessional cycle and our distance from the galactic center appear approximately congruent, that may just be a coincidence. Or the interactions run much deeper considering further data…

Lost Star

Sirius rises with the Sun every year in the same place, in effect not precessing compared to the other stars. The Egyptians used the Sothic-Sirius calendar to mark their festivals. In fact we still use it today, New Year’s Eve, December 31^st, is Sirius’ midnight zenith culmination, that is when it is exactly opposite the Sun, and solar noon on the light side of Earth. That is it’s furthest point from the Sun on the ecliptic, and on New Year’s Day it begins it’s journey towards the Sun again, when they are conjunct on July 5th. Though it was the heliacal rising of Sirius around July 19 (in Egypt, as it varies with latitude) that was Wepet Renpet, the Egyptian “opening of the year”, and the time of the flooding of the Nile which brought fertility and prosperity to the land.

Walter Cruttenden, in Lost Star of Myth and Time, proposes that our precessional cycle is a solar system wide related phenomenon keyed to our Sun’s binary orbit with Sirius. Walter writes:

The big thing wrong with this whole dynamicist approach (the process of looking strictly at the local dynamics) is the assumption that the Earth's axis wobbles relative to all objects inside or outside the solar system. This is a blunder of historical proportions that has obfuscated not only our understanding of precession, but of the very motions of the Earth. Fortunately, new studies involving the timing of the Venus transits, lunar rotation equations and the Earth's motion relative to other objects in the solar system (such as the Perseids meteor shower) all show that the Earth does not precess relative to local objects.
In spite of this, the current paradigm is so widespread and well accepted that when I mention the idea that the Earth does not precess or wobble relative to local objects, science types are completely baffled, or they look at me as if I am insane. It is like telling people in Ptolemy's time that the Sun does not go around the Earth : They look up, see that it does, then conclude you 're crazy. But the truth is, the so-called “wobble” is primarily the geometric effect of an unknown motion. There is an unaccounted-for reference frame — the solar system curving through space — producing the observable phenomenon we call precession.

Twisting Birkland Currents in Space

It is proposed that Sirius is not in a binary orbit, rather it is moving in a twisted filament pair with our Sun in a Birkland current, which are galaxy and star forming currents in the Electric Universe thesis. One rotation of helical path with Sirius is approximately 25,000 years, our precessional cycle. This motion on a helical path is interpreted as Earth wobble, which we know it can’t be. The rate is not steady, it changes over time. This current then orbits Arcturus, over approximately 550,000 years. And then they collectively rotate around the Pleiades, over 26,000,000 years.

It is highly recommended to watch his whole precession series, as well as all his other fine work.

Tropical vs Sidereal Zodiacs

Sidereal and Tropical astrology diverge primarily in their calculation and interpretation of the zodiac. The Tropical system, widely practiced, utilizes an abstract zodiac that resets at zero degrees Aries every March Equinox. This approach causes the Tropical zodiac to gradually deviate from the true positions of the constellations, as it does not account for precession. Sidereal astrology embraces the true positions of the constellations, aligning the zodiac signs directly with the actual motions of the cosmos. Sidereal astrology establishes a more accurate connection between celestial influences and individuals’ lives.

For example, here are two charts for Palenque, Mexico at dawn on December 21, 2012, the end date of the Mayan Long Count.

The Tropical and Sidereal zodiacs are about 23 degrees difference. With the Sun precessing at approximately 1 degree every 72 years, that puts the Tropical zodiac ~1,656 years in the past. Or in other words — and I’m open to correction, just trying to comprehend from available data — that in about 1,656 years from now the Equinox - galactic center alignment will happen in the Tropical zodiac, abstractly of course.

Tropical, Sidereal and Astronomical relationships

Which timeline do you live on?

For perspective, I’ve known some amazing Tropical astrologers. I was married to one for 20 years, the late Alison Davidson, who wrote Metal Power — Soul Life of the Planets, on Lili Kolisko’s metal-planet crystallization studies.

In Tropical terms, I was born a double Gemini (Sun & ascendant), and I have many of the classic characteristics, e.g., when it comes to communication and information flows, part of my nature. Yet Sidereally, the Sun was in the horns of Taurus when I was born, in approximately the same place as when my father, a wonderful learned professor, was born.

So I experience a definite reality to the Tropical, it is the Matrix we are born into. But is it a trap? Our world is cut off from the cosmos, in many ways too numerous and complex to discuss here, and we need to reconnect as integral to the progress of our soul journeys. My path has been to discover how to reconnect to the cosmos through the natural sciences, a la Goethe et al.

The late, great Sidereal astrologer, Nick Anthony Fiorenza saw the great changes coming at the beginning of 2020. Some of us had been watching for a couple years, wondering what would happen then. And what happened? A global plandemic, an attempt to enforce a “reset” using mind control and a eugenics program, which has greatly damaged humanity as a whole. To be sure, the powers that be were riding on these cosmic waves. Sadly, Nick passed away from a fast acting cancer in 2020, and his massive website of Sidereal research, including in all the Kuiper Belt Objects as they were discovered, was taken down.

We need to reconnect to the reality of the cosmos. That is an underlying theme through all my articles on Goethe’s approach, and others that will follow.
